Publication ethics
Agriculture and Food Science Research follows the COPE Core Practices and the ICMJE recommendations. Editors, reviewers and authors are expected to meet these standards.
Authors
- Report original work honestly; do not fabricate, falsify or manipulate data or images.
- Do not plagiarise, including self-plagiarism and duplicate or redundant publication. All submissions are screened for similarity.
- List as authors only people who meet the authorship criteria; changes to authorship after submission need the agreement of all authors and the editor.
- Disclose all funding and competing interests, and the use of generative AI tools. AI tools cannot be authors.
Reviewers
- Keep manuscripts confidential and do not upload them to AI tools.
- Declare competing interests and decline when conflicted.
- Give objective, constructive reports on time.
Editors
- Judge manuscripts only on their merit and fit with the scope, regardless of the authors' origin, gender, beliefs or affiliation.
- Editors never handle their own papers or papers from close collaborators; these are handled by another editor, blind to the editor-author.
- Editorial decisions are independent of the APC and of any commercial interest.
Misconduct, corrections and retractions
Concerns are investigated following the COPE flowcharts. Depending on the outcome, we publish a correction, an expression of concern or a retraction; published articles are never removed silently. Raise concerns confidentially with afsr@gmail.com.
Appeals and complaints
Authors may appeal a decision once, with reasons, to the Editor-in-Chief. An editor not involved in the original decision reviews the appeal. Complaints about the process go to the publisher at origlots@gmail.com.
